George III Style Shieldback Armchair
George III style shieldback armchair of feather and drapery design. The well carved shield back containing a Prince of Wales feather motif, with adjacent drapery swags, the feathers and drapery in contrasting lighter wood, probably pear. The projecting arms with carved rosettes and bellflowers in the same contrasting wood, and terminating in plinths above channel carved square tapering legs with spade feet in front. The rear legs of a curved, splay design.
Upholstered in a modern, Italian water moire.
