Early George III period wing armchair, attributable to Wright & Elwick

Early George III period carved mahogany wing armchair, attributable to Wright & Elwick. The channelled front legs with distinctive bead and reel carving to the outer edge, the top with foliate bracket returns. The rear legs out swept, joined to the front legs by an ‘H’ stretcher. The upholstery a modern scarlet damask. The carving to the front legs is specific to the known work of the work of Wright & Elwick, a firm operating in Wakefield, Yorkshire, from about 1750.
