A Pair of George III Period Giltwood Salon Chairs, to a Design of John Linnell
A pair of George III period giltwood salon chairs, to a design of John Linnell. The oval back with well-carved flowers at the top, and downswept arms at either side, very specific to the Linnell workshop. The stuffover seats above a gilt seat rail centred by a patera, and all supported by deeply fluted legs terminating in toupie feet. Nearly identical chairs survive at Osterley Park, Middlesex, and Oakly Park, Shropshire.
Circa 1775
